Counterpoint Q
The Plot: Started April, 2008
Q is bored. It's hard being an omnipotent and immortal being.
After a while, you just stop seeing the fun in the universe.
Still, for a creative individual like Q, there are always... opportunities.
To alleviate his boredom, Q creates a place he simply names 'Counterpoint'.
To it, he brings a seemingly random assortment of Starfleet officers. There will be challenges ahead, he'll make sure of that.
No doubt they'll learn to work together, overcome them, and maybe, just maybe, even possibly get home again...?
Bishop City, a place where corruption and crime thrive under a leadership that is so crooked, it’s a miracle it's still standing. For years, this corrupt leadership has ensured that the city has remained informally divided into four: West Side, where the powerful and wealthy settle down and build their families, North End, where the young businessman can climb the corporate ladder, South End, where the average Joe lives his average life on an average salary, and East Side, the realm of crime, violence and poverty, where every day is a struggle to survive. It is not an ideal situation...in fact, it is the exact opposite, but that is today's situation in Bishop City, and it is the way it has been for many years. But there may very well be change on the way...
While the four mafias of the city are stepping dangerously close to war, the people of Bishop City prepare for the upcoming election, which may set in stone what future the city faces. It is a chance to rid of the old - the corrupt leadership of Mayor Ian Anderson - and replace it with a new, possibly one determined to change the city for the better, someone who can make a change in every citizen of Bishop City's life? Or perhaps it will go the other way, and "the new" will be an ever greater evil, which will ensure a formal division of the city for all days to come. The criminals have already chosen their candidate - the one who will benefit them the most - but the criminals are greatly outnumbered. It is in the hands of the people that the power still sits; the power to mould tomorrow. Amidst all this corruption in crime, there is a bright light shining. Is there still hope for Bishop City? Only time will tell.
USS Crudaigh - Star Trek RP [LB] « Result #2 on Jun 30, 2009, 4:31pm »
Welcome to the USS Crudaigh
We are an ADVANCED level roleplay, looking for members who can contribute to the story!
The Plot
10 Years have passed since the return of the Starfleet Vessel Voyager. Federation technology has continued to improve, though no one has yet been sent to explore the Delta Quadrant because no safe means of transport between the Alpha and Delta Quadrant exists. However, that is all about to change. The USS Crudaigh has been commissioned to carry top-secret equipment through space en route to the Delta Quadrant. Once there the crew will begin work on a special warp gate at a location that was chosen from the records of the Voyager journeys. Due to the advances in technology and warp drive over the past 10 years, what would have been a 23-year journey has been cut nearly in half. The crew of the Crudaigh is expected to reach the Delta Quadrant in 13 years. Once their portion of the time gate has been erected, space travel between the two quadrants will become almost instantaneous. The fate of future space travel rests in the hands of the crew of the USS Crudaigh. What will occur? Will they make it to the Delta Quadrant? Will the gate work once it has been built? Granted, the Darkness will never just fade away on its own. But it might be a little less shady if the members of Organization XIII weren't still running around stealing everyone's hearts! Though that's beside the point. Those from the Realm of Light need to illuminate the darkness if they do not wish to be swallowed by it. Do they have what it takes? Do you?

Reyna was starting to get slightly panicky. Her usual place was on the bridge, not facing some challenge on a strange planet. She could count on one hand the number of away missions that marked her record.
"What if no one comes? What if," her eyes grew big, "one of us has to eat the other one to stay alive, but that would only last for so long and then that person would die, too. Do our ships even miss us? What if some stranger is sitting in our place? What if no one is looking for us?" She realized she was rambling and put a hand over her mouth.
NAMASTE - welcome to the Dharma Initiative « Result #7 on Apr 11, 2009, 2:10pm »
NAMASTE
And welcome to the Dharma Initiative.
It's 1977, and the Dharma Initiative, despite some real estate disputes with the Island's native Hostiles, is in its prime. New recruits are arriving monthly off the submarines, the community is thriving, and those little experiments that few know about and even fewer ever mention...they're all going according to plan.
Unfortunately, the Hostiles have a plan of their own, and despite the shaky truce between the two factions, they're willing to go to any lengths to achieve their goals. The Dharma people think they're safe inside their sonic fence, safe from the threat the jungle poses, but little do they know that a great deal of that danger is lurking, at this very moment, right in their midst. That's right: Richard Alpert's got his own people in Dharmaville, in deep cover -- some might be posing as new recruits, fresh from the outside world, others could be established members of the Initiative who've been there for years. But these agents have one thing in common: they're all part of the Hostiles' plan for the overthrow of Dharma, a plan not even they fully understand.
Where do our favorite Lostaways fit in? Well, they're not the crash survivors we all know. On the contrary; in this reality, they're all members of the Dharma Initiative, no time travel necessary. They remember nothing of the crash or the ensuing months...because it never happened.
So collect your jumpsuits and job assignments, and say NAMASTE. You're in the Dharma Initiative now.

Georgia smiled, put at ease a little by the other woman relxaing.
"Lieutenant Georgia Kaney," she said, in reply. "USS Helsinki." She let Reyna shout at the ceiling, but nothing came back at them but a faint echo.
"I expect they'll be along when they're good and ready," she muttered. "I only hope they... whoever 'they' are... don't have anything too nefarious planned for us." She pulled her knees up to her chest, hugging them to her. "I wonder if there is anyone else here? Or if anyone else will sort of... pop into existence like you did." She tilted her head very slightly, her trademark move to those that knew her that she was thinking a problem over.

Reyna relaxed just a bit having learned the other woman seemed to be in the same situation. "Don't be sorry," she said, "I judged you before getting all the data." She gave her half a smile, "Lieutenant Reyna... USS Aries."
She stood up, looking about the room, "mind telling us what we're doing here," she shouted at the walls. She didn't know if anyone was listening, but there was no harm in trying. At least, she hoped there wasn't...
